DO HAMSTERS KILL MICE?
Hamsters may look sweet but they respond violently to all intruders. "If you put
two hamsters together, they will fight each other and one usually kills the other,¹
says Pamela Milward of the Southern Hamster Club. "If a baby hamster gets into
the cage of a strange adult, the adult will kill it. So they would certainly kill
a mouse."
Worse still, after murdering an intruder, they will often turn cannibal. "They
usually eat the brains. You will often find the body with the head eaten. In colonies
of Chinese and Russian hamsters, who do live together, they will eat the head
off if one of them dies a natural death."
