HOW SHOULD I FEED MY HAMSTER?
If you use a mix, use a good packaged one. Some hamsters get sore cheek pouches,
because the hamster mix has got sharp oats in it. Some loose mixes have a lot
of dust in them. Try to make your hamster finish up its mix. If it leaves a lot,
reduce the amount you feed so that it has to eat up everything in the mix. Otherwise
it will just eat the bits it likes best and wonąt get a balanced diet.
Too many hamster nibbles, hamster choc drops or sunflower seeds will make your
hamster too fat. Hamsters need fresh fruit and veg, as well as hamster mix. This
is important not just for their health but for their emotional wellbeing. A variety
of food makes their life more fun. They love grapes and almost all sorts of fruit
and veg. Go easy on lettuce. Only feed this about once a week. Feed nuts in their
shells (not shelled), so that the hamster has to chew its way in. This is good
for their teeth and gives them something to do. Try dog biscuits as treats. These
arenąt too fattening.
