WHEN DOES MY GUINEA PIG NEED A VET?

If a guinea pig stops eating, or seems to have difficulty in eating, get a vet to check general health and teeth. Also look out for loose droppings or smaller droppings. A dirty bottom may mean that you are feeding too rich a diet and the guinea pig is not eating its caecotrophic droppings. Cut down on mix and add more hay.
Keep an eye out for skin problems. Bare patches, falling hair, skin redness etc all need URGENT veterinary attention. Watch out for lumps and bumps on the skin.
If a guinea pig cries or grunts while urination, it needs veterinary attention.
