DO GUINEA PIGS PURR?

They do when they are content, feel safe and happy. They will purr if a friendly guinea pig is grooming them, or sometimes when they are settling down ready to sleep. A similar sound but louder sound that guinea pig expert Peter Gurney calls a rumble is a threatening hostile sound! A rumble is usually accompanied by raised hackles and teeth chattering. Yawning is also a threat.
