EPILEPSY

Dogs, and very occasionally cats or smaller pets, sometimes suffer from epilepsy. It is sometimes a genetic fault. Please tell the breeder, if your pup develops this illness and write to the Kennel Club. It means either the sire or dam may be a carrier.

Dogs with a low threshold for epilepsy may be triggered into a fit by live vaccine boosters or the use of some flea preparations. Raise this with vet, if you think this has happened. Modern prescription flea sprays, rather than the older kind, are probably safer. Sleeping under a quilt or inside the bed may trigger fits.
