WHY DOES MY COCKATIEL SCREAM?

Cockatiels are clever birds that live in flocks and your bird probably came from
an aviary with lots of other cockatiels. The screaming may be desperate over-use
of his contact call. If your bird spends lots of time alone in its cage it is
effectively socially isolated. So it is calling desperately in the hope of making
contact with another bird or with you. See the next FAQ for what you can do.
You should have your bird out of the cage for several hours each day and give
it plenty of company. If you are doing this, and it still screams you may need
the help of a pet behaviour counsellor and your vet. See links below.
